Hiroshima 2023/12/31

I had a lot of oysters yesterday.

Hiroshima, abundant in nature, faces the sea and is surrounded by mountains.

Famous for its top-class oysters among the prefectures of Japan, Hiroshima's oysters are harvested in winter, and their taste improves with the colder weather.

The city's numerous rivers crisscross the landscape, carrying essential nutrients from the mountains to the Seto Inland Sea.

Oyster farming takes place in various locations.

Oysters from farms near the coast should not be consumed raw due to the potential presence of coastal bacteria, while those from farms in the middle of the sea can be enjoyed raw.

There is a Kakigoya, a floating oyster hut, in Hiroshima.

My friend took me out and treated me to oysters.

It was the first time in my life eating so many oysters at once.

Grilled oysters, fried oysters, oyster cream croquettes, oyster rice, oyster fried rice, oyster ajillo (a Spanish garlic dish with oysters), oyster chowder — all were excellent.

I'm the happiest person in the world.

Everybody, have a great new year!

May the new year bring you happiness.

Sweet Home, Hiroshima!

You can know a lot about Japanese culture. We want to know about your culture.
