Hiroshima 2023/11/4
There is Hijiyama Park immediately behind “Sweet Home, Hiroshima”.
From the observatory there, you can look out over Hiroshima City.
The first picture is one I took from there today.
The second picture is one that was placed in the observatory, with a description indicating a view towards the city center from Hijiyama Hill. It was taken in October 1945 by the U.S. Army.
Those pictures were taken from the same place.
Hijiyama Park is located 2 kilometers from the hypocenter where the city center was devastated 78 years ago.
The picture includes this description.
On August 6, 1945, Hiroshima was reduced to ashes by a single atomic bomb.
In the center of the city all that remained were the chassis of steel-reinforced concrete buildings.
The buildings in the center of the picture were in the shopping district of Hatchobori (700-800 meters from the hypocenter).
Those on the left were in the financial district of Kamiyo-cho (200-300 meters from the hypocenter).
Now, Hiroshima City has completely recovered from catastrophe.
We are enjoying our lives every day.
We are also praying for world peace and we don't want people around the world to experience the tragedy that we went through.
